IPL 2026: Gujarat Titans Preparations in Full Swing, Says COO Colonel Arvinder Singh

With the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 countdown clocking off, it has sparked one of the most stable franchises in the league, the Gujarat Titans, into high gear as it gears up for the season with its pre-season preparations.

As the tournament kicks off on March 26, the Titans are preparing the team to be in its best physical and strategic shape to participate. The franchise, according to Chief Operating Officer Colonel Arvinder Singh, already held its first training camp in January and will start another on February 16, an indication that it will be meticulous and proactive in its pre-season program.

Gujarat Titans, champions of the IPL in their first year of operation in 2022, are already becoming a force to be reckoned with in the competition with their combination of young talent and international exposure. The franchise has adopted early preparation as a competitive philosophy under the leadership of a well-organized management and coaching system.

The activities of this year include a series of phased training camps where available squads are taken through intensive training under the supervision of the coaching staff, and fitness, tactical and team-building are developed long before the exciting opening matches.

Training Schedule Ramping Up

Speaking to reporters on February 14, 2026, Singh provided details about the team’s comprehensive training program leading into the tournament, which begins on March 26.

“Like every year, our preparations are in full swing,” Singh stated, revealing that the franchise conducted its first camp in January. The next training camp is scheduled to begin on February 16, with 12 to 13 players available for an intensive four to five-day session under the coaching staff.

Pre-season training will increase as the tournament approaches. A full-scale camp is set to start approximately 12 to 15 days before the IPL’s March 26 opening. This schedule will not only provide the squad with sufficient time to prepare but will also keep the players fresh for the demanding season ahead.

Backing Captain Shubman Gill

Earlier in January, Colonel Singh also addressed questions about captain Shubman Gill’s recent performance and leadership credentials, particularly after mixed results in white-ball cricket, despite his impressive Test captaincy debut being dismissed as just a “hiccup”.

Further, the Gujarat Titans COO insisted that the judgment on Gill’s captaincy abilities is too early, pointing to his successful leadership during the England Test series, where India secured a 2-2 draw. During that series, Gill scored 754 runs, including four centuries, demonstrating his ability to lead from the front.

“I think what is more important for a captain is to be able to gain the respect of his contemporaries,” Singh explained, noting that Gill has clearly earned the respect of his colleagues and peers. He characterized Gill’s recent T20I struggles as merely a temporary setback in his cricketing journey.

Community Engagement with Junior Titans Programme

Off-field, the franchise’s grassroots participation initiative did not end with the third installment of the “Junior Titans” programme, which concluded in Ahmedabad on February 14. The non-competitive program covered a total of 5100 children across 100 government and non-government schools in cities such as Surendranagar, Morbi, Amreli, Anand, and Ahmedabad.

The programme, aimed at encouraging outdoor games and physical activities among children below the age of 14, involved interactive games, confidence-building activities, and community engagement in the state of Gujarat. Singh observed that the success of the initiative is not quantifiable solely in numbers, but also in its inspirational effect on the young members participating, as many are not often given the chance to interact with professional sporting organizations.

Junior Titans continue to expand each year, and that is why the Titans organization’s mission is far broader: it needs to grow the sporting environment in the region. The inclusion aspect of the programme enhances the involvement of everyone, irrespective of their background, which is the foundation of whole youth development through physical activity and teamwork.

Creating Momentum before IPL 2026.

The more the Gujarati franchise enters the pre-season preparation, the more integrated its strategy becomes. The middle ground between sport preparation, continuity in leadership, and community engagement sets the franchise on the right path towards IPL 2026.

With experienced leaders at the helm and a well-laid plan to transition youth development into professional readiness, the Gujarat Titans hope to capitalize on their consistency and preparedness to deliver a strong campaign when the league goes live on March 26.
