The first federally licensed and regulated national lottery in the United Arab Emirates and on the Arabian Peninsula has drawn its first ever AED100m ($27.23m) winner.
“historic milestone” for the kingdom
The UAE Lottery, which is a white label subsidiary of Momentum-owned The Game LLC, stated on Monday that the win marked a “historic milestone” for the kingdom in its push toward becoming an increasingly gaming-friendly nation.
The Momentum brand took to X with news of the win that came through on a one-in-eight-million chance of hitting the Grand Prize jackpot:
A face and name to go with the win are still forthcoming, as the lottery said it was running due diligence checks to ensure security protocols and General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA) compliance requirements are met before revealing the winner’s identity.
Abu Dhabi-based Momentum also took to social media to share the largest lottery win in The Game’s history, stating on LinkedIn that the jackpot reflects its commitment to “offering trusted, transparent, and life-changing experiences for our players.”
“Every ticket represents a moment of hope, and this incredible win is proof of what’s possible,” Momentum stated.
More proof of what’s possible in the UAE is expected to come by “early 2027,” which is when the federal gambling regulator and overseer GCGRA expects its $5bn Wynn Al Marjan Island integrated resort-casino project to launch.
The UAE is banking on a significant boost to tourism revenue when the Emirates’ first IRC opens for business.
