Asia Cup Trophy and its Current Status

As most of the cricket fans are aware of the trophyless celebration of India following the win, the celebration turned into an administrative deadlock that involved the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and its president, Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

This issue was addressed at the ACC Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 30. In this meeting, it was agreed that the representatives of the five Test-playing ACC countries, namely India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, would convene another meeting to end the situation. It should be held during the period between November 4-7 in conjunction with the quarterly meeting of ICC in Dubai.
Due to this, the current status of the Asia Cup Trophy is nowhere, as it is still not clear whether Naqvi will personally attend the meeting that is set for November 4. If he sends a representative instead of attending the meeting personally, then the trophy could be locked up in the ACC office indefinitely unless the members of the ACC reach a consensus. However, the officials from BCCI have decided to take steps before the meeting on this matter, while PCB has not acted on this issue yet and might not care in the coming days as well.
